What regulation means
A licensed financial dealer operates within a regulatory framework and is subject to regulatory obligations. The VFSC does more than publish a list of companies.
- Framework
- Licensing requirements, ongoing supervision, AML/CFT requirements and record-keeping requirements
- Enforcement
- Action against financial dealers that do not meet their obligations
- Code of conduct
- Standards of integrity, fair dealing, good faith, care and diligence; manipulative or deceptive conduct is prohibited
What regulation does not mean
Being regulated does not mean that you cannot lose money, that every trade will be profitable, that forex or CFD trading is safe, that the broker guarantees your investment, that there is no market risk, or that JFD Overseas can guarantee a particular return.
Trading CFDs involves significant risk, and a high percentage of retail investor accounts lose money. That is why regulation and risk disclosure matter: a regulated broker explains the risks rather than promising easy profits.
Complaints
JFD Overseas publishes a Complaints Handling Policy. If you believe the company has done something wrong, you can make a formal complaint under it; complaints are recorded and can be escalated.
Complain to JFD Overseas
Use the company’s own complaints procedure first.
Take it to the VFSC
If it is not resolved satisfactorily, the complaint can go to the VFSC under the applicable procedure.
Legal documents
They explain the contractual relationship, the risks, how orders are handled, how complaints can be made and other important terms. Read the ones that apply to your account before you trade.
